The competitive nature of the North Region continues to show as last night Bellevue College women’s basketball won a tough battle over Shoreline 64-56 to jump into a tie for first place with Peninsula College (both 4-1). The Bulldogs, now 12-6 overall, held off a much improved Shoreline team that has struggled in recent years, but has one of the more talented squads in the conference this year.

Brenda Akoto was a threat all night for the Bulldogs, shooting 10-for-15 from the field leading the way with 23 points. Molly Dixon added 13 points while Melinda Akoto had 10 points and led the team with 7 rebounds. Sophomore Erin Hamilton contributed everywhere as she has so often dating back to last year’s stellar freshman season by scoring 9 points, pulling down 6 rebounds, and led BC with 3 steals and 4 assists.

Bellevue travels to Whatcom this Saturday January 28 to take on Whatcom. Tipoff is set for 4:00 p.m.
