After jumping out in front early against the host Whatcom Orcas, Bellevue College men’s basketball gradually lost momentum in the second half, resulting in a 69-65 loss. The Bulldogs jumped to an early 12 point lead in the first eight minutes of the game, then took a comfortable lead going into halftime 37-28. But the Orcas battled back, in part by capitalizing at the free throw line as three Bulldogs played with four fouls entering the final minutes of the game. Whatcom cashed in going 11-for-13 at the line.

Bellevue had chances near the end, and with 1:20 remaining, a costly turnover just past mid-court swung the momentum back to Whatcom who then sealed the win. Taylor Freeman led BC with 18 points. Jordan Muir-Keung had 10 points and led the ‘dogs with 10 rebounds as well, as Bellevue outrebounded Whatcom 52-43.

Bellevue is now 3-3 (13-8 overall) and hosts Olympic this Wednesday February 1 at 7:00 p.m.
