Bellevue College women’s basketball held off a furious late rally from visiting Olympic College to hold on to a 60-56 win at home on Wednesday February 1. Up by 13 points entering the final quarter, Olympic reeled off 22 points in the fourth quarter to make things interesting before Bellevue was able to fend off any more comeback heroics by the Rangers as time expired.

Brenda Akoto took charge for Bellevue by leading the squad with 21 points and 10 rebounds. Akoto capitalized at the free throw line by making 9-of-10. Erin Hamilton had 16 points on 7-for-10 shooting and also collected 5 rebounds.

Bellevue has a week off over Super Bowl Sunday weekend and will play on Wednesday February 8 at 5:00 p.m. as they host Edmonds. The matchup against the Tritons marks the beginning of the second round play in the North Region, as BC defeated Edmonds 61-32 on January 11 in the league opener. Bellevue is now 6-1 in league (14-6 overall) and are leading the North Region with Peninsula College; a team Bellevue beat earlier in the year. The Bulldogs are riding a five game win streak heading into next week’s game.
