In a must-win situation as they continue second round league play, Bellevue College men’s basketball rode the momentum of hot shooting in the first half coupled with clutch free throw shooting in the second half to top host Skagit Valley 81-75 last night.

Five Bulldogs contributed offensively with high efficiency shooting, particularly in the firs half as the Bulldogs shot a 55%. Freshman Jaden Vollman led Bellevue with 20 points. The guard from Puyallup HS was 7-for-10 from the field which included draining 5-of-7 from three point land. Jordan Muir-Keung and Taylor Freeman, who have both carried Bellevue in many games this season, scored 15 points each. Muir-Keung led the ‘dogs with 8 rebounds and 4 assists as well. Freeman, in an odd night, had only 5 total shot attempts from the field. But his contributions were in the second half, making 11-of-12 from the line. The foul trouble of Skagit Valley in the second half allowed BC to cash in and maintain their lead at the free throw line, led by Freeman. Trey Nelson (12 points) and Jacob Shaddle (11 points) also helped the cause.

The road win avenged an early season loss at home to Skagit Valley and also keeps Bellevue only one game back of first place at 6-3 in league (16-8 overall). Bellevue’s next game is Wednesday February 15 at Everett. Tipoff is set for 7:00 p.m.
