Down by 22 points at halftime, the visiting Bellevue College men’s basketball team pulled off one of their biggest comebacks perhaps in program history by defeating Everett 72-70. The halves were polar opposites for both squads, as Everett shot a lights-out 67% from the field while Bellevue shot only 29%, including an 0-for-9 showing from three-point territory. However, the Bulldogs did not die, despite giving up 48 points in the first half. In the second half, it was Bellevue’s turn to catch fire as they shot 50% from the field as Everett was only 9-of-32. Holding Everett to just 22 points in the second half was paramount to the win along with pressure defense by Bellevue that resulted in 23 turnovers by Everett, as compared to only 13 by Bellevue.

Taylor Freeman was 10-of-19 from the field and led BC in scoring with 23 points. He also had 6 rebounds. Max Tilden, whose size is relied on mainly for rebounding, became a major contributor offensively as well last night putting up a season-high 16 attempts good enough for 16 points and led Bellevue with 8 rebounds.

Bellevue is in a three-way tie for first place at 7-3 (17-8 overall) and has a showdown on Sunday February 19 at 3:00 p.m. vs. Peninsula.
