In a pivotal game yesterday afternoon with three teams (Bellevue, Shoreline, Peninsula) all near the top of the standings, the Bellevue College men’s basketball team could not overcome a tough Peninsula team that took the lead from them in the second half as the Bulldogs lost a hotly-contested game 69-65.  After being up 32-27 in the first half, Bellevue relinquished the lead as Peninsula capitalized on Bellevue fouls by making 13-of-14 from the free throw line as BC was only 4-of-7. While neither team shot well from the field, Bellevue couldn’t catch fire late in the second half as Peninsula overtook the lead.

Max Tilden led BC with 12 points on 5-for-9 shooting and had a team-high 12 rebounds; 7 of those being on the offensive side. Tilden’s shooting efficiency and offense boards were a big part in Bellevue staying in it as the Bulldogs usual perimeter play from their shooting guards could not find their mark all night.  Jaden Vollmen also had 12 points, and was also 2-for-4 from three-point range. Though Vollmen was the lone backcourt Bulldog who had a relatively hot hand, the freshman guard was only able to put up 8 total attempts from the field the entire game.

The loss puts Bellevue one game back at 7-4 in league (17-9 overall). Peninsula and Shoreline are tied at 8-3 with three games remaining; one of them being this Wednesday February 22 as Bellevue travels to Shoreline. Tipoff is set for 7:00 p.m.
