Bellevue College softball won two games yesterday with ease, winning 11-2 and 10-1 over Shoreline at Meridian Park. In the opener, the Bulldogs put the game away in the top of the sixth inning with eight runs coming across to end the game early due to the run-limit rule. Payton Gibbs clubbed her eighteenth home run of the year and went 3-for-4 at the plate scoring three times. She has now driven in 63 RBI’s on the year. Gibbs led off the sixth with the solo blast and then came around to bat again in the same inning and hit a double, getting two hits in one inning. She also went the distance in the circle, pitching all six innings while surrendering only four hits.

In game two, Gibbs had three more hits including two doubles while Kimber Tutt also joined in on the two-way damage. Tutt hit two home runs and also pitched a complete game allowing only two hits. Cierra Barkis and Bri Attwood each had two hits while Barkis came around to score three times in the 10-1 win. In the nightcap, Bellevue put the game away early with five runs in the third inning.

The sweep puts Bellevue at 17-11 in league and 27-13 overall. The Bulldogs also played Skagit Valley on Friday May 5 but no details were reported. Bellevue is slated to play next on Saturday May 13 at 2:00 p.m. at Robinswood Park against Pierce College. It will be the final home game for Gibbs and the rest of the BC sophomores.
