Bellevue College baseball had six players named to the First Team All-North Region baseball team and an additional two more named to the second team as voted by the coaches on May 16.

Austin Shenton was a unanimous pick for first team and was also a finalist for region MVP, finishing runner-up to Edmonds’ Zach Needham. Needham edged out Shenton in the RBI and home run titles as Needham won the NWAC crown in both.  Shenton, Needham, and Everett’s Peyton Cordova-Smith were three runaway offensive stars for the league with off-the-chart numbers this spring.

Shenton was the lone BC infielder to earn first team honors. Grant DeLappe, who finished tied for third in the NWAC in RBI’s (43) with teammate Austin Pinorini, was named to the second team.

After a rocky start, Elijah Hill settled into becoming one of the most dominant pitchers in the North and was a first-teamer. Hill’s 1.89 ERA was one of the tops in the region. Kash Koltermann, the other member of Bellevue’s 1-2 pitching punch, was eeked out by one vote for first team and had to settle for second team honors. Eli Herrick was the runaway winner for relief pitcher. Herrick, a freshman, pitched in several long relief roles, garnering a 2-0 record with 3 saves. He has one of the top ERA’s in the entire NWAC.

Pinorini was a repeat selection as first team catcher. The sophomore who is headed to play at Gonzaga next year had a whopping 43 RBI’s and had several highlight games including two 5-for-5 games and a grand slam late in the season.

Two newcomer outfielders for Bellevue, Mason Cerrillo and Grant Harris, were first teamers. Cerrillo was one of Bellevue’s steadiest hitters, above the .360 mark for the entire league season.  Harris caught fire late, and single-handedly beat Everett down the stretch and carried the club offensively in several league games.

Bellevue also placed two on the Gold Glove team. First baseman Brennen Hancock had 358 putouts this spring and only committed three errors. Jack Kennelly was named second base gold glove with over 200 attempts and only four errors on the year for a .977 fielding percentage. Both are strong candidates for NWAC Gold Glove Awards, which will be determined next week.
