Hot Shooting Propels Men’s Basketball to Win Over Columbia Basin

The Bellevue College men’s basketball team had the magic shooting touch from tipoff time on as the team coasted to an 80-68 win over Columbia Basin College in Walla Walla. The team had a  65% make percentage from the field and a perfect 100% from the free throw line in the first half as sophomore Ting Jiao-Jian and reserves Tommy McAloon and Parker Manalo were a combined 10-for-11 from the field to lead Bellevue. Manalo came in and was a perfect 4-for-4; all from three-point land to give Bellevue a comfortable 47-30 lead at halftime.

Kai Warren had 10 of his team-leading 17 points in the second half to keep the Hawks in check as BC rolled on to the win. Bellevue had a double-digit lead throughout the entire second half as the closest Columbia Basin threat was within 11 with 3:33 left. After seeing the lead shrink from 19 to 11, Jian and Warren each sank both ends at free throw line after being fouled to push the lead back to 15 as BC never looked back.

The win, at neutral site Walla Walla Community College, is part of a round-robin series hosted by Walla Walla. Bellevue plays the host tonight at 6:00 p.m.
