Men’s Basketball Take Opener in Bulldog Classic; 84-71 Over Chemeketa

A crisp game all around led BC Men’s Basketball to a comfortable 84-71 win over visiting Chemeketa (OR) last night in the opening round of the eight-team Bulldog Classic at Courter Family Pavilion. Bellevue shot well from both the field and free throw line, had major contributions off the bench, and had only two turnovers in the win.

After having control of the game through the first half, Chemeketa rallied back to tie the game at 55 with nine minutes remaining, but Bellevue pulled away with key free throws by Jordan Magee and four quick points by Ting-Jhao Jian to extend the lead to a point at which the Bulldogs would never look back.

Jian continued his offensive wizardry with 26 points on 8-for-12 (including 2-for-3 from three point range) and a perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line. Kai Warren chipped in 14 points as did reserve Magee who also had 14. Freshman Curtis Walker, who struggled during the opening week nursing a sore hand, had a breakout of sorts last night with 24 points off the bench. Walker dominated underneath with a team-leading 11 rebounds as well.

Bellevue continues winner’s bracket play at 7:00 p.m. against Highline.
