Kai Oh My! Warren Leads Men’s Basketball to Bulldog Classic Title

Freshman Kai Warren displayed what you would call a hot hand yesterday as he led the squad with a highlight day scoring 40 points, snagging 13 rebounds, and dished out seven assists; all team-highs in Bellevue’s 104-79 win over North Region rival Whatcom in the title game of the Bulldog Classic held in Courter Family Athletic Pavilion. Warren was equally effective in both halves after putting up 21 on 8-for-11 shooting. He ended up making 7-of-10 from three point land for the game.

The Bulldogs were hot all around with almost a 60% field goal percentage while making 80% from the line. Last night Bellevue showed it has depth even when scoring machine Ting-Jhao Jian is not in dominant mode, as Head Coach Donald Brady spread out the minutes in the Bulldogs’ third game in three days. Jordan Magee, Parker Manalo, and Curtis Walker all were major contributors off the bench giving Bellevue a potent lineup without the starting five as they scored 18, 12, and 10 respectively.

The offensive show started early as BC went into the locker room with a 44-28 lead. With Whatcom keeping the tempo fast in the second half as well, BC threw in 60 points in the second half to cruise to the win.

Bellevue went 3-0 over the weekend and are now 6-2 overall. The Bulldogs’ next action is the Linn-Benton (Albany, OR) Crossover, facing the host at 7:00 p.m. on Friday December. 14. The ‘dogs will then face Wenatchee Valley on Saturday at 6:00 p.m. before closing out the round-robin tourney on Sunday with a 2:00 p.m. clash against Pierce.
