Bellevue Women Drop Pair of Games at Skagit Tourney

After an impressive win on Friday in the opening round of the Skagit Holiday Tourney, the Bulldogs lost their steam, playing their fourth game in as many days, losing 80-66 to Big Bend today. Yesterday, BC lost 58-48 to Spokane. In a span of four days, Bellevue played a four-year university and the top two teams in the NWAC East Region.

In today’s matchup against the 11-2 Vikings, Bellevue was in the game at halftime, down 36-28. The third quarter was pivotal, as the Vikings outgunned Bellevue 28-12. Big Bend was 60% from the floor compared to BC’s 30%. Bellevue’s Amanda Luckett was the only Bulldog to catch a break in the third quarter, scoring five points and pulling down five rebounds as well. Luckett finished with 17 points and pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds. Freshman Natalie Amos led the ‘dogs with 19 points.

The Bulldogs, although 4-8 after finishing pre-season play, are primed for their return run to the NWAC Championships after one of the toughest schedules of any NWAC  team. Bellevue now takes a break before league play begins on January 9 against Peninsula with a tipoff set for 5:00 p.m. in Port Angeles.
