Escape is an accurate word to describe how Bellevue College men’s basketball team came away with a huge road win tonight at Shoreline as the ‘dogs won 71-70. With a four point lead at 71-67 with nine seconds left in the game, the Bulldogs proceeded to turn the ball over twice, but had a stroke of luck as the Dolphins could only capitalize once as a last second attempt by Shoreline’s David Woodard fell short.

Up by five at halftime, Shoreline appeared to be on the verge of a for sure win as the Dolphins built up a 43-32 lead with 16:17 left. At the 11:46 mark Tijohn Rodde made a three-pointer to cut the lead to five at 47-42. Emanuel Siale then had a critical steal, was fouled, and made both free throws to cut the lead to 47-44 and the Bulldogs were back in business.

Siale was again key as he put Bellevue up for the first time in the second half, 68-67, with a minute to go then sank a 15-pointer to put Bellevue up by three with 30 seconds left.

Siale led Bellevue with 19 points. Curtis Walker, who had 12 points, was a critical piece in other areas besides scoring as he led the ‘dogs with 10 rebounds, five steals, five assists while committing only one turnover for the night.

Bellevue is now 5-4 (14-8 overall) and will host Edmonds this Wednesday February 20 at 7:00 p.m.
