One bad quarter for Bellevue was enough for Olympic College as the Rangers held on for a 62-60 last night in Bremerton. In the third quarter, after being down 30-26 at halftime, the Rangers shot a blistering 69% from the field and 78% from the line to outscore Bellevue 26-15. Although Bellevue made a valiant charge in the fourth, it was not enough even though Bellevue’s Dakota Laut made things interesting as she drained three from three-point land to lead Bellevue’s near comeback.

Laut’s three pointer at the 5:46 mark put Bellevue back on top 57-56 in a see-saw battle the rest of the way. After falling behind again, this time by five, Laut brought Bellevue back into it once again with another three-pointer with 1:47 to go.

The Bulldogs had chances in the last 15 seconds. Two missed layups in addition to Olympic not capitalizing at the free throw line gave BC yet a third chance to tie or win it but fell short again as time expired.

Natalie Amos led Bellevue with 16 points. She had the hot hand for the Bulldogs as she was 6-for-10 from the field, including making 4-of-6 from three-point territory.

The heartbreaking loss for first place puts Bellevue at 7-4 (11-12 overall) as Olympic maintains first place at 9-3. Bellevue travels to Everett this Wednesday February 27 for a 5:00 tipoff.
