Softball Takes Two Over Highline

Macey Sykes

Bellevue College softball took two games with ease yesterday winning 14-2 and 16-0. Both games ended early due to the run rule. In the 14-2 win, sophomore Tatum Dow, who was recently named NWAC Under Armour Player of the Week, continued her dominance at the plate by smashing two home runs; solo shots in the first and third innings. Megan Paoli also homered in the third for Bellevue. In a high scoring affair for Bellevue’s bats, only one player had a multiple-RBI hit, as Angel Prewitt cleared the bases with a three-RBI single in the second, scoring Meg Marino, Kiera Shipley, and Maddie Trout.

In the nightcap, while Dow continued to hit with two doubles and three hits total along with Tori McDowell, the home run parade was this time led by Mak Akers and Nashoni Boyd.  Both had identical lines of 2-for-3, two runs, a home run, and four RBI’s as well to lead BC’s bats. Macey Sykes tossed a three-hit shutout in the circle with only one walk and seven strikeouts.

The Bulldogs (12-2, 23-4) get the weekend off before traveling to Mount Vernon next Tuesday April 9 for a 2:00 first pitch at Skagit Valley.
