Millan Notches First Win For BC Men’s Soccer

Head Coach Eduardo Millan and the Bellevue College men’s soccer team won their first game of the year yesterday with a convincing 3-1 win over visiting Blue Mountain. The win was Coach Millan’s first career victory after a rough rookie campaign last season. In his first year of recruiting his own players, Millan’s squad took control with 12 shots on goal as fatigue set in on the visiting Timberwolves.

Blue Mountain jumped ahead early at the 8:22 mark on a goal by Andres Acuna.  The Bulldogs’ Masahiko Kaneko answered right back with an unassisted goal to knot the game at 1-1 early on; a score that would stick through halftime. The ‘dogs came out strong in the second half putting up two goals within the first seven minutes of play as Shane Riley scored on an assist by Giovani Perez before Samuel Monterrosas added an unassisted goal to put Bellevue up for good 3-1.

Bellevue dominated on the offensive front with their 12-1 advantage on shots on goal. The Bulldogs are 1-1-1 after a 2-0 loss to Edmonds and a 2-2 tie to Lane (OR) last weekend at the season opening Friendlies last weekend in Tukwila. Bellevue will take on powerhouse Spokane in a rare matchup at home hosting the Sasquatch next Thursday September 5 at 3:00 p.m.
