Skagit Valley Tops Bellevue Volleyball

Bellevue College volleyball lost a tough one on the road last night 3-1 (25-19, 20-25, 21-25, 27-29) to host Skagit Valley. Coming off a tough home loss to Edmonds earlier in the week, the Bulldogs were looking like they had fully rebounded with a convincing 25-19 win in set one. The ‘dogs raced out to a quick 5-2 lead off consecutive points by Lilandra Dexter. After Skagit Valley chipped away, the Bulldogs went on a 7-point run to close out the win.

In set two, errors allowed Skagit Valley to take early control 8-4. Later in the set, Skagit Valley would swing the momentum, shifting a 15-14 deficit to Bellevue into a 19-15 lead in which they never surrendered. The Bulldogs committed 9 errors and had a hit percentage of .059.

Skagit Valley controlled the third set with their own play, hitting at .387 and committing only 2 errors. In the decisive set four, it was a back-and-forth battle in a sloppy set by both teams, with 19 errors between the two clubs. Bellevue was in control at set point, 24-21 until 2 errors and an ace by Skagit Valley’s Teaghan Eddy tied it up at 24-24. The Cardinals would then rally for the 29-27 win.

Kelsie Otter had 23 digs while Savannah Sleasman had 15 kills and 12 digs.

The Bulldogs are now 6-3 in North Region play and 23-10 overall. They host Olympic next Wednesday October 30 at 7:00 p.m.
