Women’s Soccer Wins Playoff Opener

BC women's soccer 2019 playoff vs Spokane

Bellevue College won their opening round NWAC playoff game today over Spokane 2-1 in a tough battle against the East Region #3 seed. The Bulldogs aggressive offensive controlled the ball for most of the game, getting off 11 shots on goal as the Bulldogs’ defense shut down Spokane’s chances by allowing only 4. Lauren Landis and Donnya Kvinge, two of Bellevue’s sophomores who were honored before the game, scored for Bellevue as Landis’ goal found the net at the 30:36 mark on an assist by Fatumata Dukureh.

Leading 1-0 at halftime Kvinge struck five minutes into the second half to give BC a comfortable 2-0 margin. From there on BC’s defense would hold on as Spokane’s lone goal by Lizzy Gonzalez cut the lead to 2-1 with 32:00 remaining in the game.

Bellevue now takes their 14-3-1 record to Peninsula for the quarter-finals next Saturday November 9 for a 12:00 p.m kickoff. Peninsula is the #1 seed from the North Region and the top-ranked team overall in the latest Adidas NWAC Coaches’ Poll released today with an undefeated 16-0 record. The Bulldogs came in at 6th in the poll.
