Women’s Basketball Wins on Road

BC women's basketball

Bellevue College women’s basketball put together a relatively clean game in every aspect with contributions from both the starters and off the bench for an impressive 74-70 win on the road yesterday against Linn-Benton. The Bulldogs established the tempo early as sophomore Amanda Luckett had 5 rebounds, limiting Linn-Benton to only 12 attempts from the field. After leading 16-14 after the first quarter, BC kept the momentum going with a 20-17 second quarter as freshman Barbora Sutara came in for Luckett and had 3 rebounds and steal to keep Bellevue’s defense in check.

Both teams caught fire in the final quarter with Bellevue outscoring the Roadrunners 23-22 to hold onto the lead for the win. For a brief moment, it appeared Bellevue would fall apart as Linn-Benton claimed the lead 70-66 with 2:37 to go. Two quick buckets by Mo Bungay and Natalie Amos in a span of 30 seconds tied the game back up at 70. With 17 seconds left in the game Bellevue took advantage of a pivotoal turnover and foul by Linn-Benton sending Amos to the line. She delivered both ends for a 72-70 lead then was fouled again with :04 remaining on the clock and delivered again sinking both free throws. The sophomore from Lynden sealed the win with her clutch free throw shooting in a tough win on the road as Bellevue is now 2-0 to start the year.

Bellevue will take a week off for Thanksgiving before hosting Green River on Wednesday December 4 at Courter Family Athletic Pavilion. Tipoff is set for 6:30 p.m.
