Bellevue Stunned By Mount Hood

BC women's basketball

The Bellevue College women’s basketball team lost their third game in a row tonight as a critical 24-12 deficit in the final quarter allowed visiting Mount Hood (OR) to come from behind for a 79-71 win.

Bellevue was hanging on to a fourth quarter lead that went from six to one at the 4:31 mark until a Tatyana Lyles jump shot put the Saints back up 69-68. Three turnovers and no luck getting a shot to drop doomed the Bulldogs in the closing minutes as the Saints cashed in a perfect 4-for-4 on free throws in the final minute as Bellevue was forced to go into foul mode.

In a game that had several momentum swings, Mount Hood jumped out 22-14 after the first quarter before Bellevue would rebound with a 23 point effort in the second quarter followed by 22 more in the third. The Bulldogs played a relatively clean third quarter with several players shooting efficiently as seven players scored in the period. The fourth quarter was a different story however as the ‘dogs had only four players score on 31% shooting.

Natalie Amos and Addy Clabby led BC with 17 and 12 points respectively, with most coming in the first half. Mo Bungay had 11 points and led the squad with 5 assists on the night.

Bellevue is 3-3 and takes on South Puget Sound tomorrow at 2:00 p.m. in the final game of the round-robin style Crossover Tourney.
