Women’s Basketball Falls to Walla Walla

BC women's basketball

Bellevue College women’s basketball faced another strong team from the NWAC’s East Region this week in a showdown with perennial contender Walla Walla last night as the Warriors topped the Bulldogs 59-47 last night at Courter Family Athletic Pavilion in opening-round play of the Bellevue Crossover Tourney.

After a quarter of poor shooting for both clubs (Walla Walla 3-for-13 from the field; Bellevue 4-for-13), Walla Walla caught fire in the second quarter shooting 66% including 3-for-5 from three-point range. Unfortunately Bellevue remained cold, making only two buckets in the entire quarter as the Warriors outscored Bellevue 21-8. The 13-point differential proved to be the difference maker in the game for the ‘dogs.

The second half mirrored the first with neither team finding the bottom of the net much in the third quarter before the Warriors stepped it up a notch in the fourth. The Bulldogs never found a hot hand, shooting 15-for-52 for the night. The cold touch carried over to the free throw line as well as the ‘dogs shot only 58%.

Freshman Rokki Brown was the lone Bulldog who didn’t have struggles from the field scoring 16 points. She also dished out 3 assists.

Bellevue is now 3-2 on the year and plays Mount Hood (OR) at 6:00 p.m. tonight. Walla Walla will play South Puget Sound at 4:00 p.m. in a preliminary game.
