Amanda Luckett

Playing the Green River Gators for the second time this pre-season, the Bellevue College Bulldogs women’s basketball team sailed to another easy win 90-41 in the opening round of the Skagit Holiday Tourney in Mount Vernon.  Earlier this season in a 92-44 rout on December 4, Bellevue was up 44-12 at the break and this time was still in control at halftime at 47-24.

With minutes evenly dispersed to show BC’s depth, Mo Bungay had a breakout game with 16 points and 10 rebounds. She was 3-for-5 from the three-point line and shot 75% from the foul line. Freshman Kate Rutledge, who has shown flashes this year of being an offensive threat, was on fire going 6-for-8 including 3-for-4 from three-point range for 14 points. Amanda Luckett led BC with 19 points and 9 rebounds. The force underneath also showed her defensive skills with 9 steals in the game; a career-high.

Bellevue, now 5-3 overall, will get a tough challenge tonight as they play Big Bend of the NWAC’s East Region at 5:00 p.m. tonight in round two of the tourney. The ‘dogs have had a tough time with East Region teams this year going 0-2 so far.
