Bulldogs Fatigue In Second Half in Loss at Shoreline

Trey Lawrence BC men's basketball

Bellevue College men’s basketball stayed close for nearly three-fourths of the game before letting it slip away into a 74-57 loss tonight at Shoreline. Bellevue went into the locker room tied at 33, with neither team particularly sharp with their shooting. Bellevue managed just 4-of-15 from three-point territory and was only 12-of-35 from the field overall in the first half. Tijohn Rodde was the lone Bulldog with somewhat of a hot hand, making 2-of-4 from three-point range. Marshall Clark had 8 points while Trey Lawrence yanked down 7 rebounds in the evenly-battled first half.

In the second half, Bellevue was able to stay close, down only 36-38 with 13:45 to go before Shoreline’s Anjaylo Lloyd put up six unanswered points to stretch the lead to eight. The Dolphins cruised from this point onward.

Several of factors which kept BC in the game in the first half were gone in the second half. Clark went scoreless while Rodde was 0-for-5. The team shot only 25% from the field and was outrebounded 24-18. Unfortunately, no one on BC’s roster could get anything going while Shoreline shot nearly 50% to put the game out of reach.

Lawrence closed out the game with a team-high 10 rebounds. Trevon Richmond led Bellevue’s scoring with 16 points. Bellevue is now 0-3 in league (1-16 overall). The Bulldogs host Edmonds this Wednesday January 22. Tipoff is set for 7:00 p.m.
