Hood Leads Bellevue Effort in Tough 90-80 Loss

Gerald Hood

Freshman guard Gerald Hood came ready to play last night but was not enough as the Bulldogs lost 90-80 last night at Peninsula. Hood nailed 9-of-13 shots including a perfect 3-for-3 from three-point range, pulled down 8 rebounds, and led the ‘dogs with 4 assists.

After a relatively even first half statistically and down by only three at 42-39, Hood’s heroics were not enough to uphold BC’s efforts as the squad shot only 39% overall while the Pirates made 53%.

A pair of free throws by Bellevue’s Trevon Richmond brought them to within six at 82-76 with 2:34 to go in the game but could not get any closer as Peninsula was able to keep a comfortable lead the rest of the way down the stretch. Down by nine with a minute to go and a need for quick points, the Bulldogs were 0-for-3 from three-point range and were unable to close the gap.

Hood ended the night with 26 points while Richmond had 24. Trey Lawrence continued his consistent rebounding presence with a team-high 10 rebounds.

Bellevue hosts first-place Skagit Valley this Saturday February 8th at 6:00 p.m. Skagit comes in with a 22-1 record and lost their first game of the year last night, falling 61-60 to Everett.
