Men’s Basketball Fall Short Against Shoreline

Jalen Womack

Although leading at halftime 36-35 over visiting Shoreline, the host Bellevue College Bulldogs lost control in the second half, yielding 37 attempts from the field while getting off only 25 in an 82-71 loss to Shoreline Saturday night. Getting opportunities all second half, Shoreline was able to capitalize making 6-of-14 from three-point range for a scorching 43% from long distance to cruise to victory.

After getting off 35 shots in the first half and keeping even with Shoreline on the boards, the Bulldogs were often one and done on their possessions in the second half with only two offensive rebounds.

With 15:27 to go early in the second half, Bellevue had a 44-40 lead but then saw it disappear into a 13-point deficit in 3:30. Three turnovers and a 9-0 run by the Dolphins flipped the momentum as BC fatigued from midway through the second half until the end. A pair of free throws by Trevon Richmond cut the Shoreline lead to seven at 71-64 with 2:56 remaining, but was as close as the Bulldogs could get.

Shoreline’s Anjaylo Lloyd catapulted the Dolphins to the win with an electric second half, sinking 8-of-12 including 3-of-4 from the three-point line for 21 points. He had 28 for the game. Bellevue was led by Richmond’s 15 points. Jalen Womack had a solid outing as sixth man off the bench with 13 points on 5-of-7 shooting and 7 rebounds.

Bellevue plays at Edmonds this Wednesday night at 7:00.
