Men’s Tennis Swept in Pair To Open Season

Opening the 2020 season against NCAA four-year programs proved to be a rough way to start as the Bellevue College Bulldogs dropped a pair of non-conference matches, both by scores of 9-0 to Linfield College on Saturday February 15 and Pacific University on Sunday February 16.

On Saturday, Bellevue gave a tough fight for #2 and #3 singles as BC’s Francis Viloria (#2) and Nick Berni (#3) took Linfield’s Michael Manion and Cameron Ventura to three sets. Viloria lost 4-6, 6-3, 2-6 while Berni lost in nearly identical fashion, 4-6, 6-3, 3-6.

At the top of the lineup, BC’s Stefano Wirawon played Linfield’s Luis Rojas tough, falling 4-6 and 6-7 (7-5 tie-breaker).

No details were provided on the Sunday matches against Pacific.

The squad will travel to the University of Puget Sound this Friday February 21 for another non-conference match against a four-year university.
