Women’s Basketball Cruises Over Shoreline

Barbora Sutara

Bellevue College women’s basketball cruised to a 25-10 first quarter lead over visiting Shoreline and never looked back in a convincing 90-54 rout over Shoreline. The Bulldogs threw in 46 points in the first half and were just as hot in the second half with 44 as the game was a lopsided affair highlighted by the ‘dogs collecting a whopping 52 rebounds (25 for Shoreline). Controlling the offense all day, the Bulldogs got plenty of opportunity to get off shots, as the squad had a season-high 30 three-point field goal attempts on the night, making nine of them.

With the game under control from the beginning, Coach Mel Stubblefield was able to go twelve deep on the bench as reserve Barbora Sutara led BC with 11 rebounds. Starters Addy Clabby and Amanda Luckett led the Bulldogs in scoring in limited playing time, playing in about half the game, with 13 points each. In only thirteen minutes of play, Makenna Faulkner was efficient in every aspect, making 3-of-4 from the field, was 2-for-2 from the line, and had 3 rebounds and 2 steals.

The Bulldogs run their record to 8-3 in league (15-6 overall) and remain in a tie for second place with Peninsula, two games back of Whatcom, who has defeated Bellevue both times this season. Bellevue travels to Edmonds this Wednesday February 19 for a 5:00 start against the Tritons, who are battling for the fourth and final spot to the NWAC playoffs.
