Men’s Basketball Falls In Season Finale

Trey Lawrence

Bellevue College men’s basketball could not get hot anywhere on the floor last night as the Bulldogs fell 89-63 to first-place Everett last night at Courter Family Athletic Pavilion. It was the final game for sophomores Trey Lawrence, Tijohn Rodde, and Gabriel Moujaes who were honored before tipoff.

Bellevue could not get anything going from the field, three-point range, or the free throw line as poor shooting percentage everywhere plagued the Bulldogs all night. Everett built up a sizeable lead in the first half thanks to outmuscling the ‘dogs underneath for a 28-15 rebounding edge in addition to shooting 45% from the field. The Bulldogs tried to stay in the game from long distance, getting off 16 of their 33 shots in the first half from three-point range, but unfortunately, made only four of them for 25%.

In the second half, the rebounding advantage shifted to Everett even more with a 36-14 edge. Freshman Gerald Hood came off the bench and was the lone Bulldog who could get a hot hand, draining 4-of-6 for 9 points in the half. The Bulldogs got to with nine at 65-56 with 8:25 left in the game after Hood nailed a 15-footer. The ‘dogs then missed their next eight shots down court and suddenly found themselves down by 20 before Hood finally nailed a three-pointer to make it 76-59 to stop Everett’s momentum.

Bellevue wraps up their season at 2-12 in league and 3-25 overall.
