Women’s Basketball Tops Everett

BC women's basketball

Bellevue College women’s basketball, while preparing for the upcoming post-season run, took the floor for the final time at home last night in an 80-66 win at Courter Family Athletic Pavilion. Before their last regular season game last night, Head Coach Mel Stubblefield honored his four sophomores, Natalie Amos, Amanda Luckett, Dakota Laut, and Makenna Faulkner. All four had outstanding efforts last night leading the Bulldogs to the win. Each sophomore was pivotal in their own quarter. Luckett led BC in the first with 6 points on 3-for-5 shooting. In the second, Laut carried BC with 5, while Faulkner got hot in the third with 9 points. She was 3-for-4 from both the field and the free throw line. Amos led Bellevue with 7 in the fourth.

In a game which Bellevue had control with from early on, the Bulldogs built up leads of 18-12 after one quarter and 39-30 at halftime. That lead was as close Everett could get as Bellevue maintained leads of nine to 15 throughout the entire second half as they coasted to victory.

The win put Bellevue at 11-3 (18-6) overall and one game back of region champion Whatcom. The Bulldogs who tied Peninsula for second ended up third in the region’s tie-breaker process, so will enter the NWAC Championships as the North #3 seed. Drawings for opening round play can be seen on March 1 at 4:00 p.m. on the NWAC Selection Show.
