Softball Sweeps Pierce

Bellevue College softball opened up league play with a convincing sweep over visiting Pierce, 12-4 and 7-1. The Bulldog bats were consistently hot all day, pounding out 22 hits collectively.

In the opener, the ‘dogs wasted no time jumping up 4-0 in the first as sophomore Megan Paoli had a 2-RBI single to drive in Elise Allen and Tori McDowell. In the third, McDowell belted a solo home run to make it 5-0 before defensive miscues by Pierce’s defense and pitching allowed for a 2-RBI triple by Lizzy Olsen. Leslie Main also had a multiple RBI double in the inning. By the time the third inning had ended the Bulldogs were up 10-4 as they cruised to victory.

In the nightcap, BC rode the pitching of sophomore Macey Sykes, who went the distance in the circle fanning 6 while walking only 3. The Bulldogs jumped out early in game two as well, as McDowell carried the offense with a double, home run, and 2 RBI’s to lead the ‘dogs.

Bellevue is 2-0 in league play and 4-3 overall with an upcoming doubleheader scheduled Saturday March 14 at noon at Highline.
