BC Women’s Golf Win Title at Season Debut

Bellevue College’s women’s golf team made their season debut yesterday and made it a twin killing at Twin Lakes Golf and Country Club, winning the Highline Invitational by a single stroke in similar fashion to the men’s team one-shot victory moments earlier.  The Bulldogs won 277-278 in a dual match against host Highline.

Freshman Ashley Clark made here college debut after going two years since her last competitive school match and finished second overall. After starting off with two consecutive double bogeys to open her round, Clark settled in by going 2-over for her next 7 holes making the turn with a 42.

Another pair of freshmen closed out BC’s scoring for the team title as Danyel Korpe finished tied for third overall with a 92 while Tori Berger finished fifth overall with 94.

Berger and Clark, playing in the middle group together during the round, made huge putts on the 18th hole to seal the win for the ‘dogs. Berger drained a sloping three footer to salvage bogey while Clark, who ran her chip over the green had a second chip, but this one from a tough uphill slope going downhill on the green with 30 feet to work with and promptly got up and down to save bogey as well.

Bellevue now prepares for another tourney hosted by Highline next Monday September 28 at the Highline Showdown at Suncadia Resort in Cle Elum. The one-day tourney will take place on the Rope Rider course around 11:00 a.m.
