Women’s Basketball Pulls Away From Skagit Valley 63-58

Bellevue College’s women’s basketball team scored 23 points in the fourth quarter as the Bulldogs overcame a 31-26 halftime deficit to defeat Skagit Valley 63-58 Wednesday night at Courter Family Athletic Pavilion.

After trailing by five at halftime, BC’s Mo Bungay tallied five quick points to shrink Skagit Valley’s lead to one at 32-31. A tenacious defensive front led by the rebounding of Barbora Sutara and a steal by Rokki Brown led to BC lead of 34-32 with 5:43 left in the third quarter.

In the fourth quarter, Skagit Valley battled back and took a 46-43 lead on a ten footer by the Cardinals’ Maidson Plautz. BC stormed right back on a three-pointer by Brown then went on a surge to take a nine point lead with 1:27 remaining on a three-pointer by Bungay, as she tallied 11 points in the fourth quarter alone in a 24-point effort for the night. Sutara had 10 rebounds while Brown bounced back with 15 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 steals.

Bellevue travels to Peninsula Saturday April 10 for a 2:00 tipoff.
