Women’s Golf Takes Olympic Invitational

The Bellevue College women’s golf team distanced themselves far enough ahead of the field after day one of the Olympic Invitational held at The Home Course to not have anyone threaten on day two as the Bulldogs won by 23 strokes with a two-day total of 476 over runner-up Skagit Valley.

Sarah Lawrence took home medalist honors with rounds of 71-77 ahead of teammate Tori Berger who shot 77-81 for a total of 158. Ashley Clark finished fifth overall with a total of 172 to round out Bellevue’s scoring. Lawrence appeared to be headed towards a dismal round after triple-bogeying the par-4 seventh hole which gave BC golfers nightmares all day. At 5-over par through seven holes, Lawrence then eagled the eighth to rebound nicely and finished the round with fairly consistent play in rough weather conditions.  Berger bounced back from a 42 on the front nine and made adjustments to card a 39 coming home in blustery weather to finish strong.

The Bulldogs have now won three tourneys this season and are slated to square off with Skagit Valley in a dual match this Monday and Tuesday at a course to be determined.
