Women’s Soccer Opens Season With Big Win Over Highline

In a long awaited debut, Bellevue College women’s soccer started their season off with a win over perennial power Highline 3-1 yesterday at Bellevue College. It has been a seven month wait for the Bulldogs but the squad showed they were as prepared as ever in the dominating win.

After spotting Highline a 1-0 lead only nine minutes into the game, the ‘dogs found themselves down at halftime. Adjustments were made in the second half as Bellevue came out attacking with several shots on goal as sophomore Fatumateh Dukureh tied it up at 1-1 at the 55:00 mark. Four minutes later, freshman Allie Peterson made it 2-1 on an assist by Malia Fernandez. Highline would remain within striking distance for the next 20 minutes until sophomore Hannah Woten sealed the win with BC’s third goal with a little over twelve minutes to play.

Bellevue heads to Tacoma next Tuesday April 13 for a 12:00 kickoff against the Titans; another west region foe of the Bulldogs.
