Baseball Splits Season Ending Series With Olympic

Troy Baunsgard

Bellevue College baseball ended their season with a series split with Olympic over the weekend. On Friday, Bellevue won 12-2 before falling 6-2. Josiah Santiago went 4-or-4 in the opener as Troy Baunsgard and Fred Buckson each homered. Baunsgard’s blast put Bellevue up 2-0 in the first while Buckson’s provided the final runs to end the game early due to the 10-run limit rule. In the second game, the Rangers scored five unearned runs spoiling Trevin Hope’s stellar outing as he surrendered only two hits through six innings of work.

On Saturday Bellevue lost the opener 6-5 before winning their season finale 11-4. In the opener, Olympic’s big blow was a bases-loaded clearing double that put the Rangers up 5-3 before BC would chip away. Kye Seitz’ RBI single drove in a run to make it 5-4 before Tyler Miller pinch hit and delivered a solo homer to tie the game at 5. It was Miller’s second pinch hit home run this year. Olympic however would scratch across one run after a double and a textbook sacrifice bunt that turned into a hit. In game two Santiago continued his late season hitting spree with another three hits while Harrison Clark went 3-for-4 with 4 RBI’s. Cal Kirchoff, Ian Haigh, and Carter Sutton combined for 15 strikeouts in a group effort on the mound.

Bellevue finished at 22-10 in a shortened season.
