Highline Tops Women’s Soccer

Bellevue College women’s soccer had another tough West Region battle against rival Highline, falling 3-1 yesterday at Starfire Complex in Tukwila. The loss was Bellevue’s second consecutive one this week as the Bulldogs continue to battle in the competitive West Region.

The T-Birds dominated offensively in the first half which set the tone for the match as they got off 10 shots compared to Bellevue’s 5 in the opening 45 minutes of play. Highline finally found the back of the net at 34:40 on a goal by Dakne Blanco-Ramirez. Down 1-0 at halftime, Bellevue could not get anything going offensively, and fell behind quickly in the second half 2-0 before BC’s Brooklynn Dwight finally got BC on the board near the end of the match with 10 minutes left to play. Highline would tack on a third and final goal as time expired following a yellow card issued to the Bulldogs team.  The offensive pressure by Highline kept Bellevue goalkeeper Celia LaGuardia busy all day, as the T-Birds got off 10 shots on goal in the match.

Bellevue is now 2-2-1 in league (3-5-2 overall) while Highline stays undefeated at 3-0-1 (5-0-1 overall). The Bulldogs have a quick turnaround and will host Grays Harbor this Wednesday September 29 at 2:00 p.m.
