Tosi Leads Bulldogs to Win

Bishop Tosi got his turn tonight as the back that carried the team as the freshman came through clutch at the free throw line in an 81-68 win over Walla Walla tonight on day two of the Bulldog Classic. Tosi not only was a perfect 4-for-4 from the field but was six-for-seven from the free throw line scoring 14 points in Bellevue’s comeback win.

Contrary to previous games, Bellevue was down after the first half 38-36 before dominating the second half 45-30 with hot shooting and rebounding control. Tosi’s efforts led a 13-for-15 mark at the free throw line, good enough for 87% while Walla Walla was 1-for-3 from the line. BC held a 17-9 rebounding advantage as well in the second half.

Bellevue wasted no time regaining the lead at the start of the second half but the Warriors kept it close at 65-63 Bellevue with a little over five minutes to play. Tosi made both ends of a one and one before a seven point run to move the lead to double digits at 74-63 with 2:26 remaining. From there the Bulldogs maintained control in an all-around clean second half that catapulted Bellevue to victory.

Tosi’s 16 points and six rebounds along with Nate Johnson’s 14 points and 11 rebounds for the ‘dogs. Jett Briceno had 17 points to lead Bellevue’s scoring.

The Bulldogs host Highline in the final day of the three-day round-robin tourney at Courter Family Athletic Pavilion at 2:00 p.m.
