Men’s Basketball Storm Back to Defeat SW Oregon

Bellevue College men’s basketball came from behind to take a gutsy 85-79 win over host SW Oregon CC tonight in the SW Oregon Crossover Tourney in Coos Bay, OR. The BC rally came early in the second half as Maui Sze connected on a three pointer to put Bellevue up 43-41 just two minutes into the second half. From there Bellevue would extend the lead to over 10 and kept SW Oregon at a distance.

In an evenly-contested first half, the Bulldogs found themselves in a rare position of being behind 40-34 at intermission. The six point deficit was fractional compared to the early hole they found themselves in as SW Oregon raced out to a 17-4 lead to start off the game. Down by 15 with just over two minutes to go in the half, Ben Olesen nailed two three-pointers along with a dunk by freshman Aydan Janssan to quickly close the gap at 39-34. The momentum late in the first half continued in the comeback in the second leading BC to victory.

Bellevue was led by Sze’s 20 points. All five of Bellevue’s starters scored in double figures.  The ‘dogs are 9-2 and face Treasure Valley (OR) tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. in the final day of the tourney.
