In a battle of annual North Region rivals, Bellevue College came up big with a sweep over visiting Douglas College by scores of 6-0 and 6-5.

The matchup was the first between the two North Region rivals since 2019 as the pandemic cancelled the 2020 contests before the shortened 2021 season in which Douglas did not field a team.

In the opener, Kaci Imus was brilliant for Bellevue in the circle, striking out 10 with no walks in the complete game shutout, throwing 70 strikes out of 88 total pitches.

Kelci Studioso continued her recent hot hitting with a 2-for-4 game one with two RBI’s and two runs scored.

In game two, Bellevue had to work harder as Douglas tied the game at 6-6 going deep into the game. The ‘dogs had to go to Imus again, who came in relief and shutdown the Royals with five strikeouts without giving up a run over the final two innings to put BC in position to win in in the bottom of the sixth as Studioso doubled and scored on a Haley Winckler single. Studioso was 3-for-4 while Imus was a threat at the plate as well with a home run and a 2-for-4 day at the plate.

The Bulldogs have some time off as tomorrow’s games against Olympic have been forfeited by the Rangers due to injuries depleting their roster. Bellevue’s next games will be at the NWAC Crossover in Chehalis on April 8-10.
