North Idaho Edges Bellevue Men’s Golf

Dalton Dean

Bellevue College men’s golf put up a valiant fight but lost to defending NWAC Champion North Idaho by two strokes today at the Skagit Valley League Match held at Avalon GC in Burlington. A sour note for the Bulldogs, since last May, North Idaho topped BC for the NWAC title. With many returning golfers in the lineup for BC, the ‘dogs just could not overtake North Idaho despite the low round of Dalton Dean, who lit up Avalon with a 68; nine strokes better than the eventual medalist Jacob Gold of SW Oregon.

Dean was five under for his final eight holes carding a 32, 4-under par after going even on the front nine. Dean birdied 11, 12, and 13 before cooling off with a par on 14 then birdied two of his last four holes for the highlight round. His rounds of 78-68 led BC as Tyler Spalti shot rounds of 74-78 to tie for sixth place with fellow Bulldog Morgan Taylor. Reese Jorgensen closed out the ‘dogs scoring with rounds of 79-77 over the two-day event.

Bellevue will now rest after playing back-to-back tourneys before competing in the Highline Showdown at Salish Cliffs GC October 3-4.
