Men’s Basketball Cruises Over Whatcom

Bellevue College men’s basketball played one of their most polished games ever in a road win over Whatcom 99-76. The Bulldogs used a new starting lineup as Sayerr Senghore came out of a reserve role and started last night leading the ‘dogs with 23 points. He was 11-for-15 from the field while another newcomer to the starting lineup, Brian Caldera had a team-high six rebounds and chipped in nine points. Owen Moriarty drained five-of-nine from three-point range to tie Senghore with 23 points. Aydan Janssan was nine-for-12 and had 19 points.

The balanced attack was signaled by efficient shooting as BC cut down on their three-point attempts and had 10 offensive rebounds. Bellevue shot 52% for the night on 42-of-81.

Moriarty led the way in the first half as BC cruised to a 51-32 halftime lead. Moriarty, the sharp shooter freshman out of O’Dea HS, was a perfect five-for-five from three-point land and had 19 of his 23 points in the half. While Whatcom was able to generate more offense in the second half, BC kept them at a distance as Senghore took over for Moriarty in the scoring spree on his seven-for-nine shooting.

Bellevue snapped a two-game losing streak and are now 1-2 (11-6 overall) and will travel to Everett tomorrow, Saturday January 21, for a 4:00 p.m. tipoff.
