Women’s Basketball Fall Just Short Against Skagit Valley

Bellevue College women’s basketball played three even quarters with visiting Skagit Valley, but the first quarter 21-15 deficit proved costly in a 66-59 loss at Courter Family Athletic Pavilion.

The Bulldogs were whistled for seven fouls in the first quarter sending Skagit Valley to the line eight times in which the Cards converted on seven of them.

BC was down by as much as 14 midway through the fourth quarter but a late run by the ‘dogs which cut the lead to seven was too late as Skagit pulled away.

Bri Byrnes had 15 points on seven-for-11 shooting and grabbed six rebounds for the Bulldogs. Sav Huerta connected for 16 points while McKayla Rodriguez had a team-high 13 rebounds.

Bellevue is 3-2 in North Region play (11-6 overall) and will play at Shoreline this Saturday Jan. 28 at 5:30 p.m.
