Hot Shooting Leads ‘Dogs Over Olympic

Bellevue College men’s basketball defeated Olympic College 91-78 in North Region action at Courter Family Athletic Pavilion. The Bulldogs shot 61% from the field in the second half as they outscored the Rangers 53-43 for the win.

Olympic held a lead briefly midway through the first half 28-23 with 5:42 remaining before Jett Briceno’s three-ball and a bucket by Prophet Johnson put the ‘dogs right back in the game at 28-28.

From there the Bulldogs shot the lights out and extended the lead out to 20 points in the second half. BC went on a 9-0 run with 12:48 remaining to put the game out of reach.

Owen Moriarty lad 25 points and was seven-for-eight from the field in the second half to lead Bellevue. Prophet Johnson had 22 points while Aydan Jannsan had 18. The ‘dogs were at times intimidating on the defensive front with eight blocked shots; four of them by Bishop Tosi.

Bellevue is now 4-3 in North Region play (14-7 overall). They have a week off before traveling to first place Peninsula on Wed. Jan. 8. The 7 p.m. tipoff marks the second round of league play with Bellevue currently in fourth place in the region, with four teams qualifying for the conference playoffs.
