Johnson Hits 50 in Bulldog Rout

Prophet Johnson

Bellevue College freshman Prophet Johnson hit the mid-century mark with 50 points in a blowout 119-79 win over Whatcom. Johnson was on fire from the beginning and made nearly everything he threw up going 22-28 from the field in one of the most electric performances of the season. His stellar performance was multi-faceted with six steals and 10 rebounds.

Johnson’s outing was equal in both halves as he shot 11-14 in both the first and second half. For a brief moment the Orcas were in the game down 11-10 just six minutes into the game before Bellevue went on their scoring spree. BC went on a 9-0 run to go up 20-10 at the 12:20 mark before going wild and stretching the lead to 34-12. The 23-2 run turned the game into an offensive highlight film the rest of the way for the Bulldogs.

Johnson was not the only BC player with the hot hand as Aydan Janssan 10-for-14 from the field with 13 rebounds for the ‘dogs. The offense was initiated with an astounding 63-27 rebounding edge for Bellevue.

The Bulldogs are now 6-4 (16-8 overall) and in third place as the team continues to trend upwards as the season comes to a near close. BC hosts Everett this Sunday Feb. 19 at 2 p.m.
