Baseball Takes All Four

Bellevue College baseball won all four games this weekend against Skagit Valley. The Bulldogs won Saturday at home by scores of 5-3 and 8-5 before heading north to sweep the Cardinals 9-4 and 7-2.

In the home wins, Cam Hoiland continued his dominance on the mound with a 10 strikeout performance, allowing only four hits through six innings of shutout work. Bellevue pounded out 11 hits of Skagit ace Owen Murdock but held only a 1-0 lead when Hoiland exited. Skagit tied the game 1-1 in the top of the eighth before the ‘dogs broke it open with four in the bottom half of the frame on big hits by Abe Affholter and Evan Holman who each had two RBI hits.

In game two BC jumped out 8-1 on 13 hits as Holman again delivered with three RBI’s while Rylen Bayne had three hits. Jake Kaepernick allowed only two hits through five innings of work.

Ryan Lynch tossed a no-hitter in the opening Sunday win striking out nine. In game two, Bellevue Bayne was a two-way threat with two RBI’s at the plate and on the mound, making his debut start of the year. He allowed only one hit through four and two-thirds innings before giving way to Jack Erdman. The ‘dogs jumped out 5-0 to cruise to the win.

Bellevue has now reeled off six wins in a row and are in second place in the North Region at 16-6 (26-16 overall). The Bulldogs host Douglas College this Saturday May 6 at 1 p.m.
