Volleyball Offense Paces Win Over Everett

Bellevue College volleyball had it’s rhythm going between their pins and setter Lauren Wittmers as the Bulldogs topped Everett on the road 3-1 by set scores of 28-26, 25-18, 23-25, 25-20.

BC’s offense swung at a .350 clip in sets one and two as Emma Heywood had 21 kills and only two errors to lead the ‘dogs. Jeanice Gamez was strong also with nine kills and only one swing error. Heywood’s and Gamez’ kill percentages were .487 and .381 respectively. Setter Lauren Wittmers had 27 assists.

Bellevue’s defense was led by the trio of Olivia Deckard (26 digs), Tommi Gallucci (21), and Jesse Mahler (21).

After BC took the first two sets with their offensive prowess, Bellevue cooled to a .128 clip in set three in which Everett stormed back from a 13-8 deficit to take set three. BC had to work for set four after Everett came to within 22-20. Deckard’s ace was the match-winning point.

Bellevue is now 4-1 in region play (19-4 overall) and takes a four-game win streak to Whatcom next Tuesday October 10 at 7 p.m.
