Bellevue College women’s basketball let a lead slip away as visiting South Puget Sound escaped with a 57-53 win. With Bellevue up by seven at 48-41 in the fourth quarter, the Clippers went on a 16-5 run over the final eight minutes of play as the ‘dogs turned the ball over six times late in the game to give South the opportunity to stage their comeback win.
With 3:33 to go, Paige Hampton’s layup put BC up 52-47, but the ‘dogs would not score again until a Jordyn Smith free throw with seconds left in the game. South made their comeback thanks to 11 fouls in the fourth quarter alone by BC. While converting only 50% from the line in the quarter, the number of opportunities at the line allowed South to cash in on seven points which played a pivotal part in the win.
Kristina Blauman led the ‘dogs with 12 points, five rebounds, and four assists.
Bellevue is 2-6 and will travel to the NWAC Crossover at Clackamas, OR on Friday Dec. 15 for the three-day event. BC will take on Big Bend to open up the tourney on Friday at 6 p.m.
