Bulldogs Fall to Hot Shooting Peninsula

Bellevue College women’s basketball fell 80-46 at Peninsula in a game that was decided early on. With only seven players healthy, Bellevue trailed 20-11 after the first quarter as Peninsula shot a scorching 67% from the field. The second quarter was even more challenging as the Pirates made nearly everything they threw up, converting on nine-of-13 from the field and four-of-five from three point range. Bellevue could only counter with a 13% shooting clip, going for three-point goals in an attempt to cut into the lead but were 0-for-8 from long range.

Down 44-18 at halftime, the ‘dogs still could not find a way to defend as Peninsula drained eight-of-10, making 80% from the field in the third. They shot 100% from three point range and at the free throw line, missing only two total shot attempts in the quarter.

The Pirates finally cooled off in the fourth as BC outscored the Pirates 17-15. Marishka Boris had all five of her points in the game during the fourth. Mary Davis led Bellevue with 13 points. Bellevue is 2-1 in North Region play (6-12 overall) and will entertain Whatcom at home this Saturday Jan. 20 at 2 p.m.
