Bellevue College women’s basketball fought in perhaps their toughest battle of the season, going back and forth with host Edmonds but eventually falling in the final seconds 57-55. Edmonds made all four clutch free throws in the final minute which prevented the ‘dogs from overtaking the Tritons.

Jordyn Smith’s free throw at 2:50 remaining in the fourth put BC up 52-51 in what would be their final lead of the game. But the Bulldogs had chances on each possession, but couldn’t answer back after Edmonds’ Dreanna Jackson sank the final pair of the Tritons four free throws down the stretch to give Edmonds a 57-54 lead with 11 seconds to play. The ‘dogs had a couple of more last second chances but could not come up with the big bucket as Edmonds prevailed.

Bellevue made it a game with a 25-19 fourth quarter as the ‘dogs staged a comeback to make things interesting. Kristina Blauman, a sophomore, came up big with 10 points in the quarter on three-for-four shooting both from the field and free throw line. She had 14 points for the night while freshman Mary Davis chipped in 13.

Bellevue (3-3 / 7-14) returns home for their next action this Wed. Jan. 31 hosting Skagit Valley at 5 p.m.
