Women’s Basketball Wins In Triple Overtime;

Bellevue College women’s basketball took home a huge win both for a clinched playoff berth and confidence in an 88-84 win on the road at Whatcom. Kristina Blauman yanked down a key rebound with 10 seconds left and sealed the win with two clutch free throws as several players had big moments in the game.

In regulation, Mary Davis dropped in a bucket with less than a minute left to put BC up 61-59. Those points would be just enough after a late field goal to send the game into overtime. Davis then made both ends at the free throw line with Bellevue down 67-65, again with less than a minute of the clock to to the game and send it into double overtime.

Blauman connected on a pair of free throws with :16 left in double overtime to tie the game and send it into the exhausting third overtime. Davis, Jordyn Smith, and Blauman at the end, all came up with huge points as BC got hot in the final overtime period to seal the win.

The Bulldogs shot an astronomical 28-for-35 from the line for 80% with 53 rebounds; statistics that were key elements in the big win. Blauman had 24 points and was a perfect 10-for-10 from the line. Smith had a big night as well pouring in 18 with nine rebounds.

Bellevue solidified a playoff spot with the win as they are 7-4 in North Region play; just two games out of second place and a solid four games up for the final playoff berth, with only three to play, making tonight’s win the clincher. The ‘dogs travel to Shoreline this Wed. Feb. 21 for a 5:00 game.
